Media Training with a Twist

| General, News | January 25, 2016

Our friends at Jericho Extraordinary Experiences approached us about a media training session in November, two months later the ideas that we scribbled down on the back of a beermat have come to fruition.

The main thrust was to create a ‘fun’ and ‘interactive’ day out that combined media training with the adrenaline rush of the TV newsroom experience. Media training can be quite dry so we wanted a day-out where the attendees could hear from a number of top TV professionals whilst learning some of the tricks of the trade.

We booked Sky News’s former Business Editor Michael Wilson and make-up and hair expert Antoria Lingard for the session. We ordered a tricaster for the day which is a mobile mixing desk that turns a simple green-screen into a television set. We then went to work transforming our office into a ‘live’ TV newsroom.

So the first session took place in our studio and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The day flew by and, by the time we wrapped up, all of the attendees showed real improvement in their presentation and interview skills. Not all of them will be the new Jeremy Paxman or the new Michael Wilson but they all took away tips to help them feel more confident in a TV environment.
